10 Solid Solutions to stop your Android Phone from Hanging and Freezing

"Why is it every time I want to do something important or needed to do something on my Android Phone it starts hanging, some Apps stops working or Unfortunately App is not responding?"

      1.   Reduce the Number Apps you are running at the same same


Each Android phone has a limited amount of (RAM) Random Access Memory that is built to help in running the Apps on your mobile phone and that is the processing power. If you overburden the phone beyond the capacity of these resources, that's when the phone may hanging.
So, you should try and minimize the number of Apps you are running at the same time. There are numbers of Apps that run in the background. Free the memory by stopping the apps that you don’t need at the moment.
To see the list of currently running apps, go to Settings ➝ Apps ➝ Running App

      2.   Update all your Apps


Visite Google Play on your Android phone to install the latest App updates for your mobile device. It is highly recommended that you regularly update all the apps because mobile app developers keep improving their Apps so as to serve the user in a better way. Each time a new version is available, try to update to latest versions of apps on your mobile device, sometimes it may be designed to use lesser memory and CPU power.

      3.   Restart or Reboot Your Mobile Phone


Restart or Reboot your phone once in a while this will completely refresh the memory of your phone. After the phone has restart, its memory will be free of all the unnecessary pieces of data that were lingering on and occupying the memory space.

      4.   Switch off the Mobile phone and Remove Battery (if it not built-in battery)


It is a good idea to remove battery and SIM card after every few 6 months. Removing battery and SIM will clean the dust from the electric touch points. though to some Android phones, it's not ideal or necessary to do so, expect on a more serious problem.


      5.   Add External Memory (SD Card) to Support the Internal Storage


Most of the mobile phone users install all sorts of Apps in their phones, some of those Apps they haven't even used it since they installed it in their mobile device. When installing the apps, they don’t pay much attention to where the app is going to be installed and what impact it can have on the performance of the phone. In most cases, by default, the apps get installed in the internal memory of the phone.
Therefore; if your phone is hanging, it is advisable to install apps in the external memory (SD Card) of the phone. When you install those Apps on your external memory it will help to free up spaces in the internal memory of the your phone. This will save your phone from hanging and freezing.

Set the default write disk to SD Card. Go to Settings ➝ Storage ➝ Default write disk ➝ Select SD Card.

Note: that this setting is available in slightly different location in different mobile handsets. So, you may have to do a bit of look around.


      6.   Installed Apps can be moved from Internal Storage to External Memory


You can always move the already installed Apps from internal to external memory. As explained above, this will give more internal memory space for the smooth running of those Apps. As a result this your phone will stop hanging and freezing.


      7.   Uninstall, Delete and Disable Unnecessary Apps


Browse through the list of the Apps installed in your phone. Uninstall those apps that you had installed but you no need them. some Apps are inbuilt that is you can't uninstall, but you can disable them, those Apps stay idle in your phone waste your data and important memory space to run the need ones.


       8.   Delete Unnecessary Picture, Musics and Videos


If you are not using external SD Card to support your phone internal storage, you store all your images, musics and videos in the internal memory; you’re really choking up the internal memory space and that could be what is causing your phone hang, freeze all the time.
Go ahead, take a look at all the Pictures, Musics and Videos, delete the ones that you no longer need. All you need can be backup in your computer and then delete it from your phone. Pictures, Musics and Videos, take up most of the space in the internal storage.

This is also one of the common reasons why your phone hanging and freezing.
So far, it not advisable that you should choke up the external memory. Keep some free space in the external memory, so that apps can easily store and read their relevant data. If external memory is also full to the brim, that can also become the cause of  your phone to freez and hang.

       9.   Identify those Apps that uses more memory (RAM)


Some of the Apps we install on our mobile phones uses much more memory than other Apps. Game Apps (like Angry Birds, Temple Run, Football games ) are among the top memory consuming Apps.
You can check how much memory each of your apps are using to know if those Apps you really need them or you should uninstall and delete them.
To do this: Go to Settings ➝ Apps (or Memory) ➝  Running Apps. Here you will be able to see which app is using much memory (RAM)

If possible, you may need a lighter alternative of an app that is using a lot of memory. For example, if you're using Facebook App, you may consider removing it and install Facebook Lite from the app store. That will also help free up some space and speed up your phone, so it will stop freezing and hanging.

      10.   Factory Reset Option


This is the last bus stop! If you have tried all that has been mentioned above but still your phone hang and freeze, then you can reset your mobile phone back to factory settings.

Note: The use of this option will remove everything from your mobile phone, You will lose everything that is in the internal memory. Like, messages, contacts, apps, bookmarks, photos, videos, songs, ringtone… everything will be deleted.
 Essentially, this option will make your phone just the way it was when it was produced in the factory.
