My Daily Benefit - Kingsley Alfred

And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

Text: 2 Kings 2:15

Please read the chapter and bring on your questions and comments.

The Elijah and Elisha relationship lasted until the very end because it was based on what I call loyalty love. When it was time for Elijah to leave the earth, Elisha lovingly refused in loyalty to be left behind.

Elijah's needs and wellbeing has been Elisha's worthy duty. With all his heart he served whether he wins to succeed Elijah or not. He never allowed his ambition to interfere with the work. He served Elijah honorably, without resentment or reservations. He could have left Elijah to go and start his own ministry. But he chose to be honorable and be with Elijah until the very end. Some prophets even tried to deter Elisha from following to the end but to no avail.

When we are working as assistants to other people, we should never see it as a lowly task. Pride is what will make us think that we are better than the position we presently occupy. Pride is not a godly trait to maintain. It always causes strife and disrupts harmony. If you have to serve as an understudy to someone; be it in church, at school, or at work; see it as an opportunity to work honorably.
Be loyal to the people that God has assigned as authorities in your life. Worship and pray.
